Conservative Parliamentary Candidate Mike Penning has welcomed new figures showing 1,209 fewer people in the Hemel Hempstead constituency are claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance compared to 2010 - a 54 per cent drop.
This means more people in work, with the security of a good job and a regular pay packet so they can provide for themselves and their families. Jobs are being created in Hemel Hempstead by businesses like Britvic and Royal Mail.
Mike Penning said:
‘It’s fantastic news that 1,209 fewer people are relying on Jobseeker’s Allowance in Hemel Hempstead – that’s more local families with the stability and security of a regular pay packet.
“This is thanks to the hard work and the determination of local people, and the Conservatives’ strong leadership and clear economic plan.
“But all this is at risk if Miliband gets into Downing Street, propped up by the SNP. Labour are facing a wipeout in Scotland, so Miliband will have to rely on the SNP for support. With Nicola Sturgeon calling the shots, Miliband would use our taxes to secure her support and we would suffer here in Dacorum. They would hike up borrowing, hit pay packets, and cost us jobs.
“It’ll be hardworking people in Hemel Hempstead who’ll pay. That’s why it’s so important to vote Conservative here on 7 May and secure a brighter future for our area. We just can’t afford to risk it with Labour and the SNP.”
