Sir Mike Penning MP placed a tribute in the House of Commons Constituency Garden of Remembrance in New Palace Yard this week. The Constituency Garden of Remembrance is a joint commemoration project by the House of Commons and the Royal British Legion.
When completed, the garden will contain tributes from constituencies from all over the country as well as from the member countries of the Commonwealth and British Overseas Territories.
This year the focus is on commemorating and honouring service and remembering everyone who has stood up to defend our way of life during conflict and national emergencies.
Sir Mike said:
“It is a great honour to place this tribute on behalf of the people of the Hemel Hempstead constituency.
“Sadly, we once again have a war taking place on European soil. This makes this year even more poignant and important than ever. We must never forget the sacrifices made in defence of our freedom and we cannot take that freedom for granted.
“We will remember them.”
